Koltrix plans come in monthly and annual billing, priced in US dollars and Indian rupees. The real numbers, the annual math, and how to choose for your team.

Once a team has picked a plan, a smaller question follows: should we pay monthly or annually, and does it matter which currency? The short answer is that annual saves about a fifth, and both currencies are first-class. The rest of this post shows the actual numbers so you can check the math for your own team.
The prices, in both currencies
Every purchasable Koltrix plan has a monthly price and an annual price, each set in US dollars and in Indian rupees. These come straight from the single configuration file our billing, website and app all read from, so the pricing page, the app and this post all show the same plan prices.

Two things to notice:
- Prices are per workspace, not per person. Starter includes 3 seats and Pro includes 10. Extra seats on either plan are $4 or Rs 350 per seat per month.
- The rupee prices are set on their own, not converted from dollars at whatever the exchange rate happens to be that day. Rs 999 is the Starter price, full stop.
Scale isn't sold from the pricing page. It's for teams that need limits beyond Pro, and it's quoted per customer. The pricing page always has the current figures.
The annual math
Annual billing is priced at roughly 20% less than paying monthly for twelve months. Here's what that works out to:

A useful way to think about it: on Starter, annual billing costs about the same as nine and a half months of monthly billing. On Pro, it's a little under ten months. If you're confident you'll still be using Koltrix in ten months, annual comes out ahead.
Monthly or annual: how to decide
The discount is the obvious argument for annual. The real decision is about how sure you are, and how much flexibility is worth to you.
Choose monthly if
- You're still evaluating. The 7-day trial is enough to set up a real domain and send real mail, but some teams want a month or two of daily use before committing. That's reasonable.
- Your team size is about to change a lot. If you might jump from 4 people to 12 soon, you may end up on Pro, and it's simpler to make that move from monthly.
- Cash flow matters more than total cost. For a pre-revenue startup, $12 or Rs 999 a month can be easier to carry than a year paid up front, even though the year is cheaper overall.
- You need specific features that aren't in v1 yet. We publish what Koltrix doesn't do so you can decide with eyes open. If you're waiting on something like IMAP access for desktop mail clients, monthly keeps you flexible until it ships.
Choose annual if
- You've already moved your domain's mail over. Once MX points at Koltrix and your app sends through the API or SMTP relay, the switching cost is real, and so is the case for locking in the lower price.
- You'd rather buy once and stop thinking about it. One renewal a year is one less recurring charge to reconcile.
- Your budget is set annually. Many companies find a single annual line item easier to approve than twelve small ones.
A simple rule of thumb
Before committing to a year, it's worth answering three questions on paper:
- Has your domain's incoming mail been on Koltrix for at least a few weeks without surprises?
- Will your headcount in twelve months still fit the plan you're buying, counting extra seats?
- Is anything on our list of not-yet-shipped features a requirement for you this year?
If the answers are yes, yes and no, annual is the easy call.
If you'd be surprised to leave within ten months, pay annually. If you can picture yourself leaving, or your team is changing shape quickly, pay monthly and revisit after a quarter.
Worked examples
A two-founder SaaS on Starter. Two people fit inside Starter's 3 included seats. Monthly is $12 or Rs 999. Annual is $115 or Rs 9,590. Hiring a third person doesn't change the bill, because that seat is already included.
A five-person team on Starter. Three seats are included and two extra seats cost $4 each, so the monthly bill is $12 + $8 = $20. In rupees, Rs 999 + Rs 700 = Rs 1,699. At this size it's worth looking at whether Pro's higher limits (10 domains, 50 addresses, 50,000 API sends a month) matter to you more than the price difference.
An eight-person team. On Starter that's $12 + 5 x $4 = $32 a month. Pro is $39 with 10 seats included and much higher limits. When you're this close, the deciding factor is usually limits rather than seats.

Who processes the payment
Payments for Koltrix are handled by Dodo Payments, acting as merchant of record. In practice that means they, rather than Koltrix, process the payment itself.
We don't make claims here about tax treatment in your country. If you need specifics for your accounts, check the receipt you receive and ask your accountant.
What happens if a payment doesn't go through
The trial lifecycle gives a good picture of how we handle unpaid workspaces, and we've tried to make it predictable rather than punishing:
- Every workspace starts with a 7-day trial and no card required.
- After 7 days without a plan, the workspace becomes read-only. Mail still arrives, and everything stays readable and exportable, but sending, the API and the SMTP relay pause until you pick a plan.
- If it stays unpaid for 30 days after that, the data is deleted, after three warning emails.
Nothing disappears the moment a trial ends, and the deletion step is announced well in advance.
